SCHOOL GOVERNING BOARD (SGB) AND OYOMESI

L-R: The PTA Chairman, SGB Chairman; Engr Olagunju, Dr Bisi Akin-Alabi, the School Principal; Mrs Olagbaju and a member of staff.

The need to foster better collaborations with all education stakeholders took the OYOMESI Team to initiate meetings with SGBs, to intimate them on how the SGBs can support the OYOMESI agenda in schools. One of such meetings was held recently at Anglican Grammar School, Oritamefa, Ibadan, when the OYOMESI project team was invited by the SGB to deliberate on promoting academic excellence in the schools.

In the course of the meeting, the School Principal, Mrs Olagbaju gave the report of the last WAEC results and she stressed the challenges faced by the School, such as inadequate teaching staff for core curriculum subjects such as Mathematics and English Language. Hence, she pleaded for the government to assist in this area to further support the pupils WAEC attainment levels.

Dr Bisi Akin-Alabi informed the members of the SGB that the challenges faced by the School will be addressed in order to ensure better quality delivery of education to the pupils, which will result in better performance. She also stated that the School has been selected as one of the Cluster Learning Centres in the state, and requested for a hall which will be renovated and equipped by OYOMESI.
