EDUCATION REFORMS KICK OFF IN ERNEST IN OYO STATE WITH UNPRECEDENTAL VACATION PROGRAMMES

In order to get school pupils focused and engaged in purposeful activities that add value to their education, the present administration of Sen. Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State, in his Kòsẹlẹ̀rí style organised a number of activities namely: OYOMESI Job Experience (OJE) Scheme; WAEC BOOT CAMP; French Clinic and Cluster Learning. The WAEC Boot Camp is happening throughout the 33 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state, while the other programmes are taking place in selected centres across the state.

The Special Adviser on Education to His Excellency Gov. Abiola Ajimobi, Dr Bisi Akin-Alabi flagged off these programmes at the Western Hall of the House of Assembly, at the State Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan on the 7th of August 2017.

Speaking to the children, she charged them to become “asiwaju” by imbibing the virtues of hard work, honesty, respect for authorities and love for humanities. She also encouraged them to ensure that the opportunities open to them through these programmes leave indelible marks in their lives, to make them become successful in future.

The Special Adviser reminded them of the vision of OYOMESI, which is "to raise competent civil citizens" as this is not only relevant for their academic success, but to make them have a wholesome education that would guarantee them a place in today's competitive global environment. She mentioned further that the present administration is desirous to support pupils to become not just educated but enlightened, economically viable and governable. She also listed other activities under the OYOMESI programme that would be rolled out in September to enable the government achieve this vision. These activities include;

1. Financial literacy.

2. Social enterprise.

3. Structured Teachers' Professional development and Incentive programme.

4. School safety.

5. Review of the Current Quality Assurance Framework.

She urged parents and members of the public to support the government efforts in repositioning education in the State to an enviable position.


OYOMESI shall make sure that Oyo State becomes a hub for producing knowledgeable workforce for the entire nation.
